Natural Lava Rock Filter Media & Aquascape Decoration – 1kg (Red)

Description

Lava rock is a premium, naturally porous volcanic rock that serves a dual purpose in aquariums: as a highly effective biological filter media and as a striking natural aquascape decoration. Its unique surface is riddled with countless tiny pores that provide vast surface area for beneficial nitrifying bacteria to colonise.

• Weight: 1 kilogram
• Color: Red
• Type: Natural volcanic lava rock
• Use: Biological filter media and aquascape decoration
• Compatible with: Freshwater and planted aquariums, canister filters, sump systems

As a filter media, lava rock outperforms many synthetic alternatives due to its massive surface area, which supports a thriving bacterial colony that breaks down ammonia and nitrite — the key to a healthy nitrogen cycle in any aquarium.

As a decorative element, lava rock’s dark, rugged texture creates a natural-looking hardscape perfect for nature-style aquascapes and cichlid setups. Mosses and ferns can be attached directly to its surface, integrating filter media and decoration seamlessly.

Rinse thoroughly before use. An excellent, versatile product for aquarium hobbyists who want to maximise both filtration efficiency and visual impact.
